Girlfriend Celebrations - Because Girlfriends Make Life Better

Tell A Gal P.A.L. – and Stop Domestic Violence

Good morning girlfriends! As you’re getting back to your routine, stop and think of someone–at work, at church, in the neighborhood–whose evening might not have been so pleasant. A whopping 74% of us know a girlfriend living in fear because of domestic violence.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Even though it tends to get overshadowed by Breast Cancer Awareness month, stopping domestic violence is a vitally important cause to all women. At GirlfriendCelebrations.com, we’d like to urge you to do your part and “Tell a Gal P.A.L.”  The Allstate Foundation sponsors this awareness program and encourages us to:

Tell a gal P.A.L. Brought to you by The Allstate Foundation.

Pass It On— Spread the word to your gal pals that domestic violence touches all of us in some way and it can happen to anyone. Let your gal pals know that financial abuse is part of domestic abuse. Talk freely about domestic violence to break down the taboo.

Act— Small acts make a big difference. Encourage your gal pals to actively plan for a secure financial future. Start a savings plan for emergencies or get a copy of your credit report.

Learn—Learn about the resources available to help yourself, or someone you know, out of an abusive situation. Take steps to protect your personal and financial safety whether you’re in an abusive relationship or not, and empower yourself.

Also, visit www.ClickToEmpower.org to enter to win a purse by a favorite TV “gal pal” – actress Ana Ortiz. All you have to do is email your friends with a message about domestic violence. Additionally, every time you select “Click to Empower Now” at www.ClickToEmpower.org, $1 will be donated by The Allstate Foundation to the Education and Job Training Assistance Fund for domestic violence survivors. Help them reach their goal of $300,000! Remember to “Tell a Gal P.A.L.” about domestic violence and how economic empowerment for domestic violence survivors can provide a path to a safe future.

Click to empower here! You can click once a day –and they are very close to that $300,000 goal so let’s make sure they get there!

Thanks once again to our girlfriend Felicia for bringing our attention to this organization and reminding us about domestic violence month. She has such a fun blog–check it out!

Also, related news: Tina and I have found a local women’s shelter to get involved with. Look for more details on our experience as we write about our Girlfriends Volunteer Challenge in the coming weeks!
