We Smell A Great Girls Night Idea…
But we need a little help from our friends! Our reader Onika wrote to us last night with an urgent query. She wants to put together a “fragrance” – themed girls night and she needs some help. Here’s what she says:
“I’m trying to plan a get together with a group of women. We are all friends. I want to do something unique. I came up with this idea to have a fragrance party. I really don’t know where to begin. All I know is that it has to be unique and fun. Can u please guide me on invitations, food and drinks, games and prizes, gifts and how to put the agenda of the party in order. My date is Dec. 13, 2008. I don’t have much time….PLEASE. I hope u can come up with some great ideas for me..Thank you so much..May God Bless You..Onika”
We’re putting our pink thinking caps on to help Onika come up with a fragrance party plan that rocks. But since she is in a hurry, we thought we’d open this up to you, our wonderful girlfriend readers. Has anyone had a fragrance party or do you have any ideas, tips, advice on how to make a successful perfume bash? Aromatherapy experts, where are you? Use the comment form below or talk to us. Thanks, girlfriends!

One idea that comes to mind is making fragranced bath salts together. You can use epsom salts from the pharmacy and get scented oils from a craft store. I think a cute idea for an invitation would be to make a potpourri sachet and tie the particulars onto the sachet with ribbon. A party game idea would be to get small jars that you cannot see through and fill them with different spices (don’t label them, just use numbers on the lids) and have your guests guess the spices by scent alone and have a prize for the one who gets the most scents correct. If you need more ideas, just let me know and I’ll put my thinking cap back on!

You could also make perfume sample flowers to use as decorations. These are lots of fun and super easy to make.

People could also bring in any small samples that they have and do a sample swap. Small sample vials are often found on Ebay in lots and would make great favors.

What a fun event! Even better than a wine tasting party, in my opinion! Here are some thoughts:
- Grab the book “Perfumes – The Guide”, by Luca Turin off of Amazon.com. This quick read and perfume reference guide will give you the history of perfume, plus a rating and review for all of the popular fragrances on the market today. It could be used to get some games going (guess the perfume by reading the description?)
- For group activities, divide everyone up into group names like FRESH, FLORAL, FRUITY, CHYPRE and WOODSY. Divide up the groups, and have each work together to create their own new scents by layering the scents that they bring to the party. You can cut strips of heavy-stock paper to use as your testers.
- Check out LuckyScent.com for samples of the latest, niche and cult fragrances.
And visit http://www.SaludSpaBar.com for more ideas! – we are a modern, online perfumery that creates custom fragrances, and we can help if needed with scent samples, door prizes and more.
Happy blending!
