Top Ten New Girlfriends We Discovered at BlogHer
The Girlfriends-in-Chief recently attended BlogHer, the world’s largest conference for women bloggers, right here in our hometown of Chicago. We had a fabulous time meeting SO MANY smart, articulate women, and learning more about the business of blogging. Best of all, we’ve brought you a souvenir, dear girlfriends: well, 10 souvenirs to be exact. We’ve brought you the links to 10 entertaining, well-written, and/or useful blogs that we think you should check out.
We realize, if you’re a regular GirlfriendCelebrations reader, that you came here for party ideas and you may not even realize you’re reading a blog. But you are! And there are so many great women out there who care enough to write thoughtfully on a variety of subjects, that we felt compelled to recognize just a few. These are not the biggest, or maybe even the best, but they are 10 that impressed us during a weekend when we came home with a huge stack of business cards from new contacts.
These 10 new girlfriends top the list of the new bloggers we met, but we could easily go on for pages! It was tough to limit it to just 10, but here they are in no particular order. Enjoy.
1. SecondCitySoiree.com: We finally met local girlfriend Jen Luby in person, and she is as lovely as her blog, a thoughtful party planning blog which makes it look so easy to do things perfectly. Great pictures and party theme ideas.
2. momfail.com – How many times have you done something that made you feel like a “bad mom”? MomFail is here to collect all those moments and give us all a good laugh in the process.
3. ivysppdblog.wordpress.com – Postpartum depression is a serious subject and Ivy handles it with earnestness and caring. Great advice and news about this important topic.
4. oneshoeoff.net – Funny observations about motherhood and life. And she has an interesting relationship with shoes.
5. cutiebootycakes.com – Renee is a doll that we first met on twitter, and she makes the cutest diaper cakes!
6. workathomemom.typepad.com The daily grind of a work-at-home mom. Obviously, we love the pink dots!
7. thriftymaven.com Catherine was so nice, and is sincerely interested in saving you money by telling you about freebies, coupons and special offers.
8. www.complicatedmama.com a “mommy” blog with some great original thoughts. We met Cori at lunch for NYMetropolista, a sister site to Chicagonista.
9. www.savorthethyme.blogspot.com The very first person we met at BlogHer. Lovely blog on eating well, with tips, recipes and ideas you can really use, especially if you have kids.
10. www.stepmothersmilk.com Stepmothers have their own set of challenges – and after reading Izzy Rose’s blog, we think having a sense of humor must be the way to handle them. Funny and irreverent.
Make New Friends, but keep the Old
A final note: These are new girlfriends, but let’s not forget our old girlfriends! We’ve brought you many links to fabulous women’s blogs over the years and the best of them are in our Recommended Links here. Don’t forget to check them out as well.
Did we miss someone? It’s not intentional. Say hi and leave your URL in the comments.
